Churches in Helsinki
Communications

Churches in Helsinki range from classical to ultra-modern and are therefore popular attractions for architecture enthusiasts. These unique buildings offer a place for church services, meditation and recreation. Due to their excellent acoustics, many of the churches also function as concert halls.
The most popular churches to visit are the strinkingly white Helsinki Cathedral, the rugged Kallio Church and its tower with wonderful vistas, Suomenlinna Church that sits on an island and greets those arriving from the sea, St. John’s Church, Finland’s largest stone basilica, and Temppeliaukio Church, an architectural gem carved into solid rock.
Please check opening hours and ongoing events before visiting, as all churches listed are currently in active use.
