Cheap food and food distribution in Helsinki parishes – summer 2021
The Church in Helsinki runs ecological Waste&Feast restaurants in various parts of the city. There you can get quality food on your plate for little money. While feasting on a delicious meal, you also reduce food waste and help young people with a job.
Now also Café Krypta, right under the Cathedral (entrance: Kirkkokatu 18 behind the Cathedral) has joined the Waste&Feast chain.
In July, we don't offer lunch (except in Café Krypta), but you are welcome to come for coffee, tea and delicacies.
Lunch and summer cafés in Waste&Feast restaurants during summer 2021
Café Krypta, in the crypt of the Cathedral, entrance: Kirkkokatu 18. Open from 25 May to 20 August on Mondays through Fridays 11 am – 3 pm. Lunch 5 € offered between 11 am and 1 pm. Welcome to enjoy the art exhibition in the Crypt!
Hermanni Diakonia House, Hämeentie 73. In the summer, the café is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 am to 1 pm, Wednesdays from 11 am to 6 pm, and Thursdays from 9 am to 12 noon. For waste food, see below.
Malmi Church Community Centre, Pekanraitti 16. Takeaway lunch 2–6 € on Mondays through Fridays from 11 am to 1 pm (until 22 June). From 1 to 29 July summer café on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 am to 3 pm. Autumn activities and lunch will start again on 16 August.
St. Matthew's Church Community Centre, Turunlinnantie 3 (Itäkeskus). Takeaway lunch 2–6 € on Mondays through Fridays from 11 am to 1 pm (until 22 June). From 1 to 29 July summer café on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 am to 3 pm. Autumn activities and lunch will start again on 16 August.
Waste&Feast Alppila, Kotkankatu 2. Takeaway food 2–6 € on Tuesdays from 11 am to 1 pm and on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm (or as long as there is food) until Wednesday 23 June. In June there is summer café on Wednesdays from 12 noon to 2 pm.

Myllypuro grocery distribution, at the end of Liikuntamylly, Jauhokuja 3, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon.
Pihlajamäki Church, Liusketie 1, bread distribution on Tuesdays at 9 am.
Tapuli parish home, Maatullinkuja 4, bread distribution on Mondays at 11 am.
