Sieluntila (Soul Room) is a serene and beautiful space that invites you to pause or linger surrounded by music and a harmonious, visual environment. Sieluntila was created by musicians Mikko Kuustonen and Jukka Perko.

Kamppi Chapel hosts a meditative stop that encourages you to release hurry and stress during Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter. Two friends, musicians Mikko Kuustonen and Jukka Perko, envisioned a room where visitors could leave behind the constant hustle and need for efficiency, creating room to breathe freely.

“At times, it feels as though we need music and a nurturing environment to silence the noise within,” says Jukka Perko.

Mikko Kuustonen thinks that Kamppi Chapel is an important and profoundly meaningful architectural gem in the heart of downtown Helsinki. “The shapes of the wood remind me of eternity and mercy. The space is like a hallowed sound bowl, a work of art in itself”, he adds. For this reason, it was tempting to produce a piece specifically for this space and its acoustics.”

The friends invited singer Mirkka Paajanen and producer Mikko Hassinen to help produce and record the composition – a wordless soundscape based on a minimalistic theme inspired by the Chapel and written by Kuustonen.

Sound system by Genelec, visual elements by Creative Technology Finland.

Sieluntila – Soul Room in Kamppi Chapel: April 13th–19th, from 3-6 pm. Free entry.
